Pre-purchase inspection checklist

1999 Ford ranger 4x4 ext xlt off/rd

VIN 1FTZR15X4XPB33418

Inspect these first — most-reported on this model

• Tires (188 owner reports)Check tread depth, the DOT age date, and that all four tires match with even wear. Look for bulges or cracks.
• Structure (90 owner reports)Inspect for rust, fresh undercoating, mismatched paint, uneven panel gaps and any sign of prior collision or frame repair.
• Service Brakes (87 owner reports)Brakes should feel firm and quiet — no grinding, pulsing or pulling. Check for an ABS light and uneven pad/rotor wear.
• Hydraulic (82 owner reports)Have a trusted mechanic inspect this system as part of a pre-purchase inspection.
• Air Bags (80 owner reports)Confirm the airbag light turns on then off at startup — if it stays lit there's a fault (costly, and a safety risk). Check for signs of prior deployment.
• Visibility (77 owner reports)Test wipers, washers, defrosters and all mirrors. Check the windshield for cracks and any camera/sensor for fogging or faults.
