Pre-purchase inspection checklist

2009 Nissan Versa

VIN 3N1BC1CP7AL392559

Inspect these first — most-reported on this model

Suspension (182 owner reports)Listen for clunks over bumps, check the car sits level, and look for uneven tire wear and worn shocks or struts.
Air Bags (179 owner reports)Confirm the airbag light turns on then off at startup — if it stays lit there's a fault (costly, and a safety risk). Check for signs of prior deployment.
Steering (28 owner reports)Steering should be tight and centered — no play, clunks or wandering. Test at low and highway speed; listen for power-steering whine.
Wheels (26 owner reports)Inspect wheels for bends, cracks and curb rash, and feel for vibration at highway speed.
Engine And Engine Cooling (23 owner reports)Check coolant level and color, look for leaks, and confirm the engine reaches normal temperature without overheating.
Power Train (20 owner reports)Drive through every gear: watch for slipping, hard or delayed shifts, and shudder. Check for transmission/driveline leaks and noises.
