Pre-purchase inspection checklist

2009 Mitsubishi Galant

VIN 4MBSRDM1A9E706724

Inspect these first — most-reported on this model

Air Bags (10 owner reports)Confirm the airbag light turns on then off at startup — if it stays lit there's a fault (costly, and a safety risk). Check for signs of prior deployment.
Structure (4 owner reports)Inspect for rust, fresh undercoating, mismatched paint, uneven panel gaps and any sign of prior collision or frame repair.
Wheels (3 owner reports)Inspect wheels for bends, cracks and curb rash, and feel for vibration at highway speed.
Tires (2 owner reports)Check tread depth, the DOT age date, and that all four tires match with even wear. Look for bulges or cracks.
Seat Belts (1 owner report)Check that every belt latches, retracts and locks under a sharp tug, and that none are frayed.
Service Brakes (1 owner report)Brakes should feel firm and quiet — no grinding, pulsing or pulling. Check for an ABS light and uneven pad/rotor wear.
