Pre-purchase inspection checklist

2011 Honda Element EX

VIN 5J6YH1H78BL003663

Inspect these first — most-reported on this model

Air Bags (6 owner reports)Confirm the airbag light turns on then off at startup — if it stays lit there's a fault (costly, and a safety risk). Check for signs of prior deployment.
Visibility (2 owner reports)Test wipers, washers, defrosters and all mirrors. Check the windshield for cracks and any camera/sensor for fogging or faults.
Seat Belts (1 owner report)Check that every belt latches, retracts and locks under a sharp tug, and that none are frayed.
Steering (1 owner report)Steering should be tight and centered — no play, clunks or wandering. Test at low and highway speed; listen for power-steering whine.
Suspension (1 owner report)Listen for clunks over bumps, check the car sits level, and look for uneven tire wear and worn shocks or struts.
Wheels (1 owner report)Inspect wheels for bends, cracks and curb rash, and feel for vibration at highway speed.
