Pre-purchase inspection checklist

2005 Lincoln Aviator Luxury

VIN 5LMEU68HX5ZJ00643

Inspect these first — most-reported on this model

Structure (28 owner reports)Inspect for rust, fresh undercoating, mismatched paint, uneven panel gaps and any sign of prior collision or frame repair.
Power Train (12 owner reports)Drive through every gear: watch for slipping, hard or delayed shifts, and shudder. Check for transmission/driveline leaks and noises.
Air Bags (3 owner reports)Confirm the airbag light turns on then off at startup — if it stays lit there's a fault (costly, and a safety risk). Check for signs of prior deployment.
Steering (3 owner reports)Steering should be tight and centered — no play, clunks or wandering. Test at low and highway speed; listen for power-steering whine.
Suspension (2 owner reports)Listen for clunks over bumps, check the car sits level, and look for uneven tire wear and worn shocks or struts.
Wheels (2 owner reports)Inspect wheels for bends, cracks and curb rash, and feel for vibration at highway speed.
