2014 Subaru Forester

VIN JF1SJ9LC5EG154966

Inspect these first — most-reported on this model

Suspension (94 owner reports)Listen for clunks over bumps, check the car sits level, and look for uneven tire wear and worn shocks or struts.
Engine (69 owner reports)Listen for knocks or ticking, check for leaks and blue/white exhaust smoke, and make sure it doesn't overheat. No check-engine light should be on.
Air Bags (57 owner reports)Confirm the airbag light turns on then off at startup — if it stays lit there's a fault (costly, and a safety risk). Check for signs of prior deployment.
Electrical System (42 owner reports)Test every electrical feature: windows, locks, infotainment, charging and all lights. Watch for flickering, dead accessories or warning lights.
Vehicle Speed Control (42 owner reports)Test cruise control and throttle response, and watch for any hesitation or unintended acceleration.
Power Train (41 owner reports)Drive through every gear: watch for slipping, hard or delayed shifts, and shudder. Check for transmission/driveline leaks and noises.
