Pre-purchase inspection checklist

2008 Mazda mazda3 gx

VIN JM1BK34F281110928

Inspect these first — most-reported on this model

Steering (117 owner reports)Steering should be tight and centered — no play, clunks or wandering. Test at low and highway speed; listen for power-steering whine.
Tires (42 owner reports)Check tread depth, the DOT age date, and that all four tires match with even wear. Look for bulges or cracks.
Wheels (33 owner reports)Inspect wheels for bends, cracks and curb rash, and feel for vibration at highway speed.
Air Bags (22 owner reports)Confirm the airbag light turns on then off at startup — if it stays lit there's a fault (costly, and a safety risk). Check for signs of prior deployment.
Service Brakes (20 owner reports)Brakes should feel firm and quiet — no grinding, pulsing or pulling. Check for an ABS light and uneven pad/rotor wear.
Electrical System (17 owner reports)Test every electrical feature: windows, locks, infotainment, charging and all lights. Watch for flickering, dead accessories or warning lights.
