Pre-purchase inspection checklist

2014 Hyundai Accent GLS

VIN KMHCT4AE9EU730832

Inspect these first — most-reported on this model

Service Brakes (25 owner reports)Brakes should feel firm and quiet — no grinding, pulsing or pulling. Check for an ABS light and uneven pad/rotor wear.
Engine (19 owner reports)Listen for knocks or ticking, check for leaks and blue/white exhaust smoke, and make sure it doesn't overheat. No check-engine light should be on.
Hydraulic (12 owner reports)Have a trusted mechanic inspect this system as part of a pre-purchase inspection.
Air Bags (11 owner reports)Confirm the airbag light turns on then off at startup — if it stays lit there's a fault (costly, and a safety risk). Check for signs of prior deployment.
Steering (8 owner reports)Steering should be tight and centered — no play, clunks or wandering. Test at low and highway speed; listen for power-steering whine.
Seat Belts (5 owner reports)Check that every belt latches, retracts and locks under a sharp tug, and that none are frayed.
