Common problems & what to inspect

🔍 Brakes should feel firm and quiet — no grinding, pulsing or pulling. Check for an ABS light and uneven pad/rotor wear.

Steering 3 reports

🔍 Steering should be tight and centered — no play, clunks or wandering. Test at low and highway speed; listen for power-steering whine.

Engine 3 reports

🔍 Listen for knocks or ticking, check for leaks and blue/white exhaust smoke, and make sure it doesn't overheat. No check-engine light should be on.

Engine And Engine Cooling 3 reports

🔍 Check coolant level and color, look for leaks, and confirm the engine reaches normal temperature without overheating.

Power Train 3 reports

🔍 Drive through every gear: watch for slipping, hard or delayed shifts, and shudder. Check for transmission/driveline leaks and noises.

Are there safety recalls on the 2009 Ford Ranger?

NHTSA lists 8 recall campaigns for the 2009 Ford Ranger model year. That covers the model year, not this individual car: to see whether a specific vehicle still needs a recall repair, check its VIN on NHTSA.gov or ask a franchised dealer. Recall repairs are free.

What is a fair price for a 2009 Ford Ranger?

Comparable 2009 Ford Ranger listings run roughly $3,800–$14,400, typically around $9,021 (from 148 comparable vehicles). The full report shows this exact VIN's valuation.

What is the 2009 Ford Ranger safety rating?

NHTSA gives the 2009 Ford Ranger crash-test ratings of frontal 5★, side 4★, rollover 3★ (out of 5; this model year pre-dates NHTSA's overall score).

What fuel economy does the 2009 Ford Ranger get?

The 2009 Ford Ranger has U.S. EPA estimates of 15–23 mpg combined, depending on engine and trim (6 versions).
