CarLogs ("we", "us") operates carlogs.xyz. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. We are privacy-first: we do not collect, store, or display the personal identity of any vehicle's owner.

Information we collect

• VIN / search queries you enter, to generate vehicle reports.
• Account information — your email address and a securely hashed password, if you create an account.
• Purchase information — when you buy a report, payment is processed by Stripe; we store an order record (the VIN, amount, and a payment reference) but never your full card details.
• Usage data & cookies — standard analytics and a login cookie that keeps you signed in.

How we use it

• To generate and deliver vehicle reports and search results.
• To create and maintain your account and let you re-access reports you've purchased.
• To process payments and send transactional email (welcome, password resets, receipts).
• To operate, secure, and improve the service.

Third-party services

We rely on trusted providers, each with their own privacy policies:

• NHTSA (U.S. Dept. of Transportation) — public VIN & recall data.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Postmark — transactional email delivery.
• Google Analytics & Google AdSense — analytics and advertising. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits; you can opt out via Google Ads Settings.
• Wikimedia Commons — representative vehicle photos (hotlinked).

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember purchases, and for analytics/advertising. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some features (like staying logged in) won't work.

Data retention & your rights

We keep account and order records for as long as your account is active. You may request access to or deletion of your personal data, or close your account, by contacting us at hi@carlogs.xyz.
