Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture Open

From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deploymen…

Common problems & what to inspect

Based on all 211 owner complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2007 Honda Pilot, here are the most-reported problem areas — and what to check before you buy.

💥 9 involved a crash 🔥 5 involved a fire 🚑 19 reported injuries

Air Bags 54 reports

🔍 Confirm the airbag light turns on then off at startup — if it stays lit there's a fault (costly, and a safety risk). Check for signs of prior deployment.

Electrical System 22 reports

🔍 Test every electrical feature: windows, locks, infotainment, charging and all lights. Watch for flickering, dead accessories or warning lights.

Service Brakes 21 reports

🔍 Brakes should feel firm and quiet — no grinding, pulsing or pulling. Check for an ABS light and uneven pad/rotor wear.

Exterior Lighting 17 reports

🔍 Confirm all headlights, brake lights, turn signals and reverse lights work, with no moisture inside the housings.

Seats 16 reports

🔍 Have a trusted mechanic inspect this system as part of a pre-purchase inspection.

Tires 15 reports

🔍 Check tread depth, the DOT age date, and that all four tires match with even wear. Look for bulges or cracks.

Are there safety recalls on the 2007 Honda Pilot?

Comparable 2007 Honda Pilot listings run roughly $5,000–$11,000, typically around $7,903 (from 167 comparable vehicles). The full report shows this exact VIN's valuation.

What is the 2007 Honda Pilot safety rating?
