VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SCHOOL BUS WITH SIDE EMERGENCY DOORS. THE BODY SIDE POSTS FOR THE EMERGENCY DOOR CAN CRACK.

THE EMERGENCY DOOR MAY NOT LATCH PROPERLY, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY TO AN OCCUPANT.
The fix
CARPENTER HAS GONE OUT OF BUSINESS. OWNERS WERE TO BE PROVIDED WITH FREE PARTS, REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS, AND REIMBURSED FOR THE LABOR INVOLVED.
OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 1, 2000. OWNERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REPAIR PARTS WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACTCARPENTER AT1-765-965-4000. ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
