Recall 00V032000
Fuel System, Gasoline › Storage › Tank Assembly › Filler Pipe And Cap — Mazda · reported 7 Feb 2000 · 22,000 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE NON-RETURN VALVE INSTALLED AT THE LOWER END OF THE FUEL FILLER PIPE CAN STICK DUE TO INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE VALVE CASE AND THE VALVE SHUTTER COMBINED WITH THE MATERIAL PROPERTIES OF THE FUEL HOSE BETWEEN THE FILLER PIPE AND THE FUEL TANK.
The risk
THIS CAN CAUSE A "HARD TO REFUEL" CONDITION, AND IN SOME INSTANCES, A "FUEL SPIT BACK" DURING REFUELING.
The fix
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE NON-RETURN VALVE WITH A MODIFIED RETURN VALVE.
OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 19, 2000.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MAZDA AT 1-800-222-5500. Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
