Recall 00V052000
Equipment › Electrical — Itasca, Winnebago · reported 24 Feb 2000 · 235 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTOR HOMES. THESE MOTOR HOMES MAY CONTAIN A GENERATOR WITH AN IMPROPERLY SIZED BREAKER FOR ITS INTENDED APPLICATION. A 30-AMP CIRCUIT BREAKER IS INSTALLED WHERE A 20-AMP CIRCUIT BREAKER SHOULD BE. THIS BREAKER PROTECTS THE CIRCUIT THAT GOES TO A CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING UNIT.
The risk
IF AN OVERLOAD WERE TO OCCUR TO THE CIRCUIT, IT COULD IGNITE THE INSULATION AND RESULT IN BODILY INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS IN THE GENERATOR AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE BREAKER.
OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 29, 2000. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT WINNEBAGO AT 1-641-585-6939. ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
