Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Cadillac · reported 28 Feb 2000 · 1,000 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIMOUSINE AND HEARSE MODEL VEHICLES. THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE HOSE CAN CONTACT THE WHEEL RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE BRAKE HOSE.

The risk

IF THE HOSE BECOMES DAMAGED, THERE CAN BE A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND PRESSURE IN HALF OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL BE LOWER THAN NORMAL AND STOPPING DISTANCES WILL BE LONGER, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE HOSE ASSEMBLY. THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE HOSE ASSEMBLY WILL ALSO BE REPLACED TO PREVENT THE POSSIBILITY OF INCORRECT POSITION OF THE HOSE DURING ANY FUTURE SERVICE.

GM RECALL NO. 00022.OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 22, 2000. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT CADILLAC AT 1-800-458-8006. Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
