Recall 00V169000

Trailer Hitches — Jayco · reported 19 Jun 2000 · 760 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: 23' TRAVEL TRAILERS. THE DESIGN INCORPORATES ALL OF THE LIQUID STORAGE TANKS BEHIND THE AXLE, SO THAT WHEN THE TANKS ARE FULL OR OTHER MATERIALS ARE IMPROPERLY LOADED, TRAILER HITCH WEIGHT IS REDUCED.

The risk

THE VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT TO TOW AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 50 MILES PER HOUR.

The fix

DEALERS WILL ADD ADDITIONAL WEIGHT TO THE A-FRAME OF THE TRAVEL TRAILER, REVISE THE FEDERAL AND WEIGHT LABELS, AND TOWING INSTRUCTIONS, AND HIGHER CAPACITY TIRES WILL BE ADDED TO ACCOMMODATE THE ADDED WEIGHT.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 22, 2000. Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
