Recall 00V186000
Structure › Body — Hackney · reported 7 Jul 2000 · 19 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRUCK CHASSIS ON WHICH SPECIAL APPLICATION BODIES, MODELS P-2000, SU, OR VU, HAVE BEEN MOUNTED. THE BODY MOUNTING BRACKETS WERE INSTALLED SO THEY TOUCH HYDRAULIC BRAKE TUBING INSIDE THE FRAME RAILS. VIBRATION FROM ROAD TRAVEL CAN CAUSE THE BRAKE TUBING TO MOVE AND BE ABRADED BY THE BOLTS.
The risk
THIS CAN POTENTIALLY WEAR A HOLE IN THE BRAKE TUBING CAUSING A FLUID LEAK, RESULTING IN REDUCED BRAKE POWER.
The fix
OWNERS WERE SENT INSPECTION AND REMEDY PROCEDURES. HACKNEY WILL REIMBURSE OWNERS FOR LABOR AND PARTS.
OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 27, 2000.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HACKNEY AT 1-800-763-0700. Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
