Recall 00V213000

Trailer Hitches — Keystone · reported 4 Aug 2000 · 74 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: FIFTH WHEEL TRAILERS. THERE IS A LACK OF A GROUND TO THE JUNCTION BOX LOCATED UNDER THE GOOSENECK AND ABOVE THE PIN BOX. THIS COULD RESULT IN A FAILURE TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKES IN THE EVENT THE FIFTH WHEEL BECOMES DISENGAGED FROM THE TOW VEHICLE.

The risk

THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE THE TRAILER BRAKES TO BE INOPERATIVE DURING A TRAILER BREAKAWAY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSTALL A GROUND WIRE BETWEEN THE JUNCTION BOX AND THE TRAILER FRAME.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
