What's wrong

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: RECREATIONAL VEHICLE CHASSIS. THE COMPONENTS THAT RETAIN THE REAR AXLE WHEEL COVERS MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED DURING INSTALLATION.

The risk

THIS CAN RESULT IN A SEPARATION OF THE WHEEL COVER, INCREASING THE RISK OF PROPERTY DAMAGE TO FOLLOWING VEHICLES.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WHEEL COVERS WITH A DIFFERENT DESIGN THAT HAS AN IMPROVED MEANS OF RETENTION.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN DECEMBER 2000.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FREIGHTLINER AT 1-800-547-0712.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
