What's wrong

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SCHOOL BUSES. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS 565, "VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER REQUIREMENTS." THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH IMPROPER MODEL CODES.

THESE ERRORS WILL AFFECT THE REGISTRATION OF THE VEHICLE.

The fix

OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH A CORRECT CERTIFICATION LABEL AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN SEPTEMBER 28, 2000. OWNERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE LABEL WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT AMTRAN AT 1-800-843-5615. ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
