Steering › Linkages › Knuckle › Spindle › Arm — Four Winns · reported 11 Oct 2000 · 739 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: BOAT TRAILERS. THE SPINDLE IS WELDED TO THE BRAKE FLANGE, WHICH IS WELDED TO THE AXLE ASSEMBLY. IF THE WELD IS NOT DEEP ENOUGH, THE WELD COULD FAIL.

The risk

THIS COULD RESULT IN THE TIRE COLLAPSING OR COMING LOOSE FROM THE TRAILER, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL RE-WELD THE TRAILERS OR, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE AXLES IF RE-WELDING IS NOT FEASIBLE.

OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING OCTOBER 2000.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FOUR WINNS AT 1-231-779-2300. Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
