Recall 00V299003

Engine And Engine Cooling › Engine — Mitsubishi Caribbean · reported 26 Sep 2000 · 135 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE HARNESS FOR THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR COULD COME IN CONTACT WITH A NEW PROTECTIVE SHIELD CAUSING A GROUNDED CIRCUIT.

The risk

PROLONGED WIRING HARNESS CONTACT WITH THE HEAT SHIELD WILL CAUSE THE WIRING INSULATION TO WEAR AND EVENTUALLY TO GROUND OUT. THIS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO DIE-OUT, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL RE-ROUTE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HARNESS.

ALL VEHICLES WERE REPAIRED AT DEALERS BEFORE SELLING TO CONSUMERS.CAMPAIGN IS 100% COMPLETED.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
