Recall 02V025000

Visibility › Windshield Wiper/washer — Foretravel · reported 24 Jan 2002 · 81 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER CRANK ARM ASSEMBLY BOLT IS TOO SHORT TO COMPLETELY TIGHTEN THE CRANK ARM AROUND THE MOTOR SHAFT. THE ARM COULD LOOSEN FROM THE MOTOR SHAFT, CAUSING THE WIPER NOT TO WORK.

The risk

FAILURE OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF VISIBILITY DURING CRITICAL PERIODS WHEN WIPERS ARE NECESSARY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ASSEMBLY AND CORRECT IF NECESSARY. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN FEBRUARY 6, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FORETRAVEL AT 1-800-955-6226, EXTENSION 254.

ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
