Recall 02V029000

Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Power Assist › Vacuum — Mitsubishi Fuso · reported 29 Jan 2002 · 836 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON SOME HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS, THE VACUUM PUMP SHAFT BREAKS DUE TO INSUFFICIENT HEAT TREATMENT.

The risk

IF THE SHAFT BREAKS, BRAKING DISTANCE WOULD BE EXTENDED DUE TO THE LACK OF BRAKE BOOSTER FUNCTION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE VACUUM PUMP SHAFT ASSEMBLY. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN FEBRUARY 15, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MITSUBISHI FUSO TRUCK AT 1-856-467-4500.

ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
