Recall 02V045001

Unknown Or Other — Country Coach · reported 13 Mar 2002 · 32 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON PREVOST CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH SLIDE-OUT ROOMS, THE MICROPROCESSOR THAT CONTROLS THE SLIDE-OUT OPERATION GENERATES A FALSE SITUATION WHICH TELLS THE SLIDE-OUT MECHANISM TO OPERATE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, A SECTION OF THE MOTOR HOME EXTENDS OUT BY UP TO 30 INCHES.

The risk

THIS CAN OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL ADD AN EXTERNAL PROTECTION CONTROLLED BY A MANUAL COMMAND. IN ADDITION, AN INSTRUCTION DESCRIBING HOW TO DEACTIVATE THE SLIDE-OUT MOTOR WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS. THIS WILL ELIMINATE THE RISK BEFORE THE REMEDY IS PERFORMED. PREVOST IS HANDLING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT PREVOST AT 1-418-831-5432 OR COUNTRY COACH AT 1-800-547-8015.

CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
