Recall 02V168000 · manufacturer campaign SCO275

Exterior Lighting › Headlights — Mack · reported 21 Jun 2002 · 40 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

CERTAIN CLASS 8 CHASSIS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." FRONT DRIVE AXLES WERE INSTALLED BY THE MACUNGIE MODIFICATION CENTER. WITH THE INSTALLATION OF THE AXLE, THE OVERALL HEIGHT OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS RAISED.

The risk

THIS CAN CAUSE THE NONCOMPLIANCE.

The fix

A SET OF LAMPS WILL BE MOUNTED BELOW THE BUMPER, BRINGING THE LAMP HEIGHT INTO COMPLIANCE. THE EXISTING LAMPS IN THE HOOD WILL BE REMOVED AND DECORATIVE COVERS WILL BE INSTALLED TO COVER THE HOLES IN THE HOOD. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN OCTOBER 4, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MACK AT 1-610-709-3337.

MACK TRUCK RECALL NO. SCO275. CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
