Recall 02V212000

Wheels › Lugs/nuts/bolts/studs — Strick · reported 12 Aug 2002 · 1,970 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN DRY FREIGHT VANS EQUIPPED WITH STEMCO PRO-TORQ AXLE NUT SYSTEM, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT WHEELS CAN SEPARATE DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION OR FAILURE OF THE LOCK RING PROVIDED WITH THE PRO-TORQ AXLE NUT SYSTEM.

The risk

WHEELS SEPARATING FROM THE VEHICLE INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

OWNERS/DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE WHEELS. IF SNAP LOCK RING IS INSTALLED WRONG, IT WILL BE REMOVED AND RE-INSTALLED CORRECTLY. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 18, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT STRICK AT 1-260-692-6121.

ALSO, CUSTOMERS CAN CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
