Recall 02V231000
Equipment › Other › Labels — Crane · reported 5 Sep 2002 · 86 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN TAG AND PUSHER AXLE ASSEMBLIES PURCHASED FROM RIDEWELL, THE AXLE ASSEMBLIES HAVE AN ACTUAL WEIGHT RATING LESS THAN THAT SPECIFIED ON THE LABEL AND THEREFORE FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF PART 567.5, "CERTIFICATION."
The risk
LOADING THE TAG/PUSHER AXLE TO THE GAWR LABEL RATING OR LOADING THE VEHICLE TO THE GVWR LABEL RATING WILL CAUSE THE PUSHER/TAG AXLE TO BE OVERLOADED.
The fix
CRANE WILL PROVIDE OWNERS WITH REPLACEMENT VEHICLE CERTIFICATION LABELS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN OCTOBER 4, 2002. OWNERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT CRANE AT 1-918-832-7333.
ALSO, CUSTOMERS CAN CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
