Recall 02V250000

Wheels — Honda · reported 17 Sep 2002 · 2,454 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, UNDER CERTAIN RIDING CONDITIONS, SUCH AS CONTINUOUSLY BUMPY ROADS, THE REAR WHEEL COULD DEVELOP STRESS CRACKS WHERE THE WHEEL SPOKES ATTACH TO THE HUB.

The risk

THE SPOKES WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL, CAUSING THE WHEEL TO COLLAPSE WITHOUT WARNING.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE REAR WHEEL, INCLUDING A NEW TIRE. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING SEPTEMBER 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HONDA MOTORCYCLE AT 1-800-289-8226.

ALSO, CUSTOMERS CAN CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
