Recall 03V100000 · manufacturer campaign 2003-01
Fuel System, Gasoline › Delivery › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Home And Park · reported 17 Mar 2003 · 125 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON CHEVROLET G-VAN CHASSIS, THE CHASSIS FUEL RETURN LINE, WHICH IS TAPPED TO SUPPLY FUEL TO THE GENERATOR, HAS BEEN FOUND TO HAVE PRESSURES THAT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED BY THE GENERATOR MANUFACTURER. AS A RESULT, IF THE GENERATOR IS OPERATED AT THE SAME TIME THE CHASSIS ENGINE IS RUNNING, EXCESS FUEL COULD BE DELIVERED TO THE GENERATOR, CREATING A POTENTIAL FOR A GENERATOR STALL AND POSSIBLE FUEL SPILL.
The risk
IN THE EVENT OF A FUEL SPILL, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSTALL AN APPROVED KIT THAT DRAWS THE GENERATOR FUEL SUPPLY DIRECTLY FROM THE FUEL TANK. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH OR APRIL 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HOME & PARK AT 1-888-762-3873.
HOME & PARK RECALL NO. 2003-01.CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
