Recall 03V139000 · manufacturer campaign MC 03-04

Exterior Lighting › Headlights — Kawasaki · reported 7 Apr 2003 · 750 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE CONNECTOR PLUG SUPPLYING POWER TO THE HEADLAMP MIGHT NOT BE FULLY INSTALLED ON THE PRONGS OF THE BULB.

The risk

THIS COULD CAUSE THE PLUG TO BECOME DISLODGED FROM THE HEADLAMP, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF FORWARD LIGHTING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL ENSURE THE CONNECTOR IS PROPERLY SEATED ON THE BULB PRONGS. IF ANY COMPONENTS ARE DAMAGED, THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THEM. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON APRIL 14, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT KAWASAKI AT 1-866-802-9381.

KAWASAKI RECALL NO. MC 03-04. CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
