Recall 03V176000 · manufacturer campaign IDH/1L8
Suspension › Front › Springs › Leaf Spring Assembly — Ez Loader · reported 13 May 2003 · 5,565 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN BOAT TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH A MONO-LEAF BASED SUSPENSION SYSTEM, THE MOUNTING HARDWARE COULD LOOSEN ALLOWING THE SPRING TO FLEX AT THE APEX OF ITS RADIUS, AND AT A POINT WHERE THERE IS A MOUNTING INDEX HOLE.
The risk
THIS FLEXING COULD LEAD TO PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE SPRING ALLOWING THE TRAILER TO SAG ON ONE OR BOTH SIDES, CAUSING TIRES TO RUB AGAINST THE FENDER AND MIS-ALIGN THE WHEELS.
The fix
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE MONO-LEAF SPRING BASED SUSPENSION SYSTEM WITH A MULTI-LEAF SPRING BASED SUSPENSION SYSTEM. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN OCTOBER 15, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT EZ LOADER AT 1-509-489-0181.
EZ LOADER RECALL NO. IDH & 1L8.CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
