Recall 03V179000

Electrical System › Wiring › Fuses And Circuit Breakers — Dutchmen · reported 21 May 2003 · 3,514 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN FIFTH WHEEL AND TRAVEL TRAILERS, THE GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER (GFI) OUTLET WAS IMPROPERLY WIRED.

The risk

THE FAILURE OF THE GFI OUTLET TO WORK PROPERLY COULD CAUSE A PERSON USING AN ELECTRICAL DEVICE PLUGGED INTO THE GFI OUTLET TO BE EXPOSED TO AN ELECTRICAL SHOCK IF SUCH PERSON OR THE ELECTRICAL DEVICE COMES INTO CONTACT WITH WATER.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE OUTLETS. IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT MOBILE, DUTCHMEN MAY AUTHORIZE A CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN TO PERFORM THE REPAIR AT THE SITE OF THE TRAILER. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN AUGUST 22, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DUTCHMEN AT DUTCHMEN AT 1-574-537-0700.

CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
