What's wrong
ON CERTAIN TRUCKS AND TRUCK-TRACTORS EQUIPPED WITH TRW PCF STEERING GEARS, A CRACK CAN OCCUR IN THE STEERING GEAR INPUT SHAFT.
The risk
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT A DRIVER COULD EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE STEERING GEAR AND REPLACE IT IF NECESSARY. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING SEPTEMBER 2003. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT FREIGHTLINER AT 1-800-547-0712.
