Recall 04V016000 · manufacturer campaign R02149
Seats — Holiday Rambler, Mckenzie · reported 6 Jan 2004 · 386 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
CERTAIN MOTORHOMES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NOS. 207, "SEATING SYSTEMS" AND 210, "SEAT BET ASSEMBLY ANCHORAGES." THE BOLT AND LOCK NUT CONNECTING THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS TO THE SLIDE TRACK WERE NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT HARDWARE WAS ALSO USED TO SECURE THE SEAT PEDESTAL TO THE FLOOR MOUNTS.
The risk
IN SOME CRASH CONDITIONS, INCORRECT INSTALLATION COULD ALLOW THE DRIVER AND/OR PASSENGER SEAT PEDESTAL/FRAME TO BECOME LOOSE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN DEATH OR INJURY TO THE SEAT OCCUPANT.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW BOLT AND LOCK NUT TO THE PEDESTAL MOUNT. OWNER NOTIFICAITON BEGAN JANUARY 21, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MONACO AT 1-877-466-6226.
MONACO RECALL NO. R02149.CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
