Recall 04V019000
Service Brakes, Air › Disc › Caliper — Newmar · reported 9 Jan 2004 · 37 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES BUILT ON WORKHORSE CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH BOSCH ZOPS BRAKE CALIPERS, THE PADS CAN DRAG ON THE ROTOR SURFACE DUE TO THE PIN SLIDE.
The risk
A HANG UP OR LOCK UP MAY CAUSE THE CALIPERS TO OVER HEAT AND NOT ALLOW THE DRIVER TO STOP SAFELY. THIS COULD CAUSE OVERHEATING OF THE BRAKE CALIPERS WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE.
The fix
WORKHORSE IS NOTIFYING CUSTOMERS AND WILL ARRANGE TO HAVE THE CALIPERS AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED ON THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT WORKHORSE AT 1-877-294-6773 OR NEWMAR AT 1-574-773-5153.
CUSTOMER'S CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
