Recall 04V030000

Electrical System — Jayco · reported 16 Jan 2004 · 308 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES, EXPOSURE TO HEAT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COULD DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE CABLE CONSTRAINT COMPONENTS. THIS COULD ALLOW THE ELECTRICAL CABLES TO COME IN CONTACT WITH, OR BE DAMAGED BY, EXHAUST COMPONENTS.

The risk

THIS COULD CAUSE DETERIORATION OF CABLE INSULATION OR SHORTING OF ELECTRICAL CABLES RESULTING IN A FIRE.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSTALL METAL CABLE TIES AND HEAT SHIELDS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN APRIL 1, 2004. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT JAYCO AT 1-574-825-0608.

CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
