Recall 04V163000 · manufacturer campaign P26

Fuel System, Gasoline › Storage › Tank Assembly — Honda · reported 12 Apr 2004 · 2,497 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN SCOOTERS, SOME FUEL TANKS WERE IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED AND DO NOT MEET MATERIAL STRENGTH SPECIFICATIONS.

The risk

ENGINE VIBRATION OR RIDING ON BUMPY ROADS COULD CAUSE THESE TANKS TO CRACK AND LEAK. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.

The fix

DEALERS WILL PERFORM AN INSPECTION PROCEDURE THAT IDENTIFIES DEFECTIVE FUEL TANKS. IF THE FUEL TANK FAILS THE INSPECTION, THE DEALER WILL REPLACE IT WITH AN UPDATED FUEL TANK. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN DURING APRIL 16, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-866-784-1870.

HONDA RECALL NO. P26.CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
