Service Brakes, Air › Disc › Chamber — Trailmobile · reported 10 Jun 2004 · 1,224 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN VAN TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH A SPECIFIC BRAKE CHAMBER, THE CHAMBER HAS A PUSHROD LENGTH THAT IS SHORTER THAN RECOMMENDED.

The risk

THIS COULD RESULT IN REDUCED BRAKING FORCE UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSTALL AN EXTENSION COUPLING ON THE BRAKE CHAMBER PUSHROD TO LENGTHEN IT TO THE RECOMMENDED DIMENSION. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON JUNE 22, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT TRAILMOBILE AT 1-800-823-3181, EXT. 223.

CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
