What's wrong
CERTAIN MY 1999-2002 SPARTAN SUMMIT MOTOR HOMES, FRONT ENGINE SCHOOL BUSES, AND TRANSIT BUSES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN FEBRUARY 25, 1999, AND MAY 21, 2002, AND EQUIPPED WITH DANA FRONT AXLE CONTAINING BOSCH HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKES WITH ZERO OFFSET SLIDE CALIPERS (ZOPS). BOSCH HAS DECIDED THAT THE PRESENCE OF CORROSION IN THE VICINITY OF THE CALIPER SEAL LAND CAN CONTRIBUTE TO REDUCED PISTON MOBILITY IN SOME CASES AND LEAD TO PERFORMANCE ISSUES CAUSING OVERHEATING.
The risk
OVERHEATED BRAKE COMPONENTS MAY NOT ALLOW THE DRIVE TO STOP SAFELY, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH. THIS OVERHEATING COULD ALSO RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE.
The fix
SPARTAN WILL REPLACE THE BRAKE CALIPERS AND PADS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 24, 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT SPARTAN AT 1-517-543-6400.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
