Recall 04V325000 · manufacturer campaign R04028

Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Antilock/traction Control/electronic Limited Slip › Abs Warning Light — Monaco Coach · reported 6 Jul 2004 · 29 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

CERTAIN MOTORHOMES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 135, "BRAKE SYSTEMS." THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) LIGHTS ARE NOT VISIBLE ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OF THE DASH.

The risk

WITHOUT THE ABS INDICATOR LIGHTS TO WARN THE DRIVER THAT THERE IS A FAULT IN THE ABS SYSTEM, THEY MAY NOT BE PREPARED TO REACT PROPERLY TO CURRENT ROAD CONDITIONS AND/OR TRAFFIC FLOW. A CRASH COULD OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REWIRE PLUGS TO CORRECT THE SIGNAL FROM THE ABS MODULE AND THE INSTALLATION OF AMBER COLORED LIGHTS TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OF THE DASHBOARD. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 23, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

MONACO RECALL NO. R04028.CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
