Recall 04V476000 · manufacturer campaign R04049
Equipment › Recreational Vehicle/trailer › Lpg Systems › Water Heater — Holiday Rambler, Monaco Coach, Safari Coach · reported 1 Oct 2004 · 44 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES MANUFACTURED WITH OPTIONAL AQUA HOT HYDRONIC HEATERS, THE EXHAUST TERMINATION FOR THE HEATER WAS LOCATED UNDER THE BEDROOM SLIDE OUT, WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLACED BEYOND THE PERIPHERY OF THE VEHICLE.
The risk
THIS MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR FUMES TO ENTER THE COACH AND POSSIBLY ALLOW CARBON MONOXIDE FUMES TO VENT INTO THE MOTOR HOME, WHICH COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO THE PASSENGERS.
The fix
FOR THE 2003 MOTOR HOMES, DEALERS WILL USE THE EXISTING PIPE FROM THE AQUA HOT HYDRONIC HEATER, AND REPAIR IT SO THAT THE END TERMINATION WILL BE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE MOTOR HOME. FOR THE 2004 AND 2005 MOTOR HOMES, DEALERS WILL ADD AN EXHAUST PIPE TO THE EXISTING EXHAUST SYSTEM FROM THE AQUA HOT HYDRONIC HEATER. THE ADDITIONAL PIPE WILL BE INSTALLED SO THAT THE END TERMINATION WILL ALSO BE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE MOTOR HOME. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 27, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.
MONACO RECALL NO.R04049.CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
