Recall 04V585000

Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Ducati · reported 8 Dec 2004 · 993 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FRONT BRAKE HOSE CAN BECOME TRAPPED BETWEEN THE LOWER STEERING FLANGE AND THE STEERING LOCK PEG WHEN THE VEHICLE IS CORNERING.

The risk

THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF FRONT BRAKE FLUID PRESSURE AND DAMAGE TO THE BRAKE HOSE, WHICH COULD RUPTURE CAUSING FRONT BRAKE FAILURE. THIS COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSTALL A RETAINING CLIP ON THE FRONT BRAKE HOSE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING DECEMBER 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DUCATI AT 1-408-253-0499.

CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
