Recall 04V594000 · manufacturer campaign A-0404

Suspension › Front › Springs › Air Suspension › Lines And Fittings — Autocar · reported 20 Dec 2004 · 20 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, THE AIR SUSPENSION HEIGHT CONTROL VALVE MAY NOT BE INSTALLED CORRECTLY.

The risk

IN THE EVENT OF A SUSPENSION AIR BAG FAILURE OR RUPTURE OF THE AIR LINE, THERE COULD BE A LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE IN THE 'B' SYSTEM AIR RESERVOIR THAT SUPPLIES AIR PRESSURE FOR THE FRONT STEER AXLE BRAKES. THIS CONDITION WOULD INCREASE STOPPING DISTANCE OF THE VEHICLE AND UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND INSTALL A PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN JANUARY 4 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT AUTOCAR AT 1-877-973-3486.

AUTOCAR RECALL NO. A-0404.CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
