Recall 04V611000
Equipment — Diamond Coach · reported 29 Dec 2004 · 37 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN DIESEL BUSES BUILT ON FORD E-350 AND E-450 CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH CARRIER VACUUM PUMP BRACKETS, THE BRACKETS COULD BREAK.
The risk
WHEN THE BRACKET BREAKS, THE VACUUM PUMP THAT PROVIDES THE POWER TO THE POWER BRAKES BECOMES INOPERATIVE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. ALSO, THE POWER STEERING COULD BE AFFECTED IF THE BELT GETS INTO THE OTHER BELTS.
The fix
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BRACKETS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 21, 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DIAMOND COACH AT 1-620-795-2191.
CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
