Steering › Hydraulic Power Assist System — Orion · reported 28 Feb 2005 · 31 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN TRANSIT BUSES EQUIPPED WITH EATON POWER STEERING PUMPS, THE PORT PLUG ON THE PUMP WAS INCOMPLETELY SEALED AND LEAKAGE OF THE HYDRAULIC FLUID CAN OCCUR WHICH COULD RESULT IN A REDUCTION IN THE POWER STEERING ASSIST.
The risk
THE DRIVER WILL BE SUBJECTED TO HARD TURNING OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND LOSS OF POWER ASSIST IN THE STEERING SYSTEM, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
EATON IS CONDUCTING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMPS FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT EATON AT 1-888-258-0222 OR ORION BUS AT 905-403-7832.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
