What's wrong
CERTAIN AMBULANCES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." NO SIDE OR REAR RED REFLEX REFLECTORS WERE INSTALLED AS REQUIRED BY THE STANDARD.
The risk
DURING EMERGENCY SITUATIONS AT NIGHT WITHOUT ANY REFLECTORS, THE REAR OF THE AMBULANCE MAY NOT BE AS VISIBLE TO OTHER VEHICLES INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE RED REFLEX REFLECTORS TO MEET GUIDELINES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 13, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ROAD RESCUE AT 843-676-2900.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
