Recall 05V173000

Service Brakes, Air › Supply — Coachmen · reported 28 Apr 2005 · 40 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON SPARTAN CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH AMETEK NGI GAUGES. THE AIR GAUGES ARE NOT PROPERLY CALIBRATED AND THE LOW AIR WARNING INDICATOR MAY BE ACTIVATED WHEN ACTUAL AIR RESERVOIR PRESSURE READINGS ARE BELOW THE REQUIRED RANGE OF 60 TO 65 PSI.

The risk

THE LOW AIR WARNING ALARM WILL SOUND, BUT THERE MAY NOT BE ENOUGH TIME TO REACT BEFORE THE SPRING (PARK) BRAKE ENGAGES, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

SPARTAN IS CONDUCTING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SPARTAN AT 517-543-6400 OR COACHMEN AT 574-825-5821.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
