Recall 05V174000

Equipment — Champion · reported 29 Apr 2005 · 75 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN DIESEL BUSES BUILT ON FORD E-SERIES CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH CARRIER VACUUM PUMP BRACKETS, THE BRACKETS COULD BREAK.

The risk

WHEN THE BRACKET BREAKS, THE VACUUM PUMP THAT PROVIDES THE POWER TO THE POWER BRAKES BECOMES INOPERATIVE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. ALSO, THE POWER STEERING COULD BE AFFECTED IF THE BELT GETS CAUGHT IN THE OTHER BELTS.

The fix

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
