NHTSA safety recall

Recall 05V213000 · manufacturer campaign SC0291

Service Brakes, Air — Mack · reported 29 Apr 2005 · 56 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY CLASS 8 TRUCKS, THERE IS A SLACK ON THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY'S ADJUSTER AND IT IS INTERFERING WITH THE AXLE HOUSING.

The risk

THIS INTERFERENCE LEADS TO A REDUCTION IN BRAKING CAPABILITIES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS THE BRAKE "SHOES" BECOME WORN, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

THE REAR BRAKE ASSEMBLIES WERE REPLACED. ALL VEHICLES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
